Enjoy an unspoiled northern experience.
I recently requested that Stillwater Marina place all of the tested fire pumps and gas cans in the fire pumps stations by May 15, 2019. As previously stated, EVERYONE should know where the nearest fire pump station is located and we should all have a list of people (not just me but neighbors and friends) to call for help if a fire should start. ALL fires should be reported to MNR&F at…Continue

The McGregor Bay Association website is a fantastic website. I know that many (including myself) use the McGregor Bay Friends Facebook site but please DO NOT forget about the MBA site. Please post photos, blogs, stories, etc.. It is also a GREAT source of information about THE BAY, laws, rules, etc.. Events are posted for summer activities, especially for the months of June, July and August. If you want to communicate with association members about an event, you can create an event. If you…Continue

Connor Cantwell indicated that Nickel City Bass will once again hold a bass fishing tournament in McGregor Bay on July 20, 2019. THANKS Connor for keeping me updated.
Please post any photos and stories about your fishing experience in McGregor Bay. My biggest fish was a 52" Muskie caught in East/West Channel. THANKS Rusty for helping me land this monster and reviving it.…Continue

We have been very lucky this hot/dry summer season in that we had only one reported fire. Since the summer is over, the MBA fire pumps will be removed from the pump stations around October 15, 2018 and returned around May 15, 2019. Hopefully there will not be any fires but if you see an unattended and/or out of control fire call 310-FIRE (3473).

The NEMI Fire Ban has been lifted. If you open burn or barrel burn, PLEASE be very careful and please DO NOT leave the fire unattended. Remember 310-3473 (FIRE) if you see an out of control forest fire, then call your friends or neighbors for help. THANK YOU for observing the fire ban during this very dry summer.

Just contacted NEMI and the FIRE BAN is still in effect. I will continue checking and let you know if things change. Remember 310-3473 (FIRE).

Contacted NEMI and the FIRE BAN is still in effect. I have been advised by Laurie Cook that if you want you can call 705-368-3500 and hit "0" to get fire ban status during business hours. While MNR&F may not have part of THE BAY in a restricted area, NEMI has the ability to declare a fire ban. So, NO OPEN FIRES, please. Remember, if you see an unattended, out of control fire call 310-3473 (FIRE).

Just to let you know that the PAR033 fire is still considered "out of control" and we (NEMI) are still under a "FIRE BAN", which means NO OPEN FIRES, including the use of burn barrels. As I have said many times before, if you see an out-of-control fire call 310-3473 (FIRE) and provide MNR&F with the best possible description and location (GPS and/or grid map identification) of the fire.
Just a friendly reminder that the FIRE BAN is still in effect which means NO OPEN FIRES. It has been reported to me that someone is burning trash out in the open. Remember if MNR&F determines that you cause a forest fire, you may be held responsible for the total cost of fighting the forest fire along with the cost of replacing any structures.

NEMI has issued a FIRE BAN. NO OPEN FIRES are permitted. Please remember that if you cause a forest fire which requires MNR&F to respond, you may be held responsible for the cost of their involvement. Call 310-3473 (FIRE) for all out of control forest fires.…Continue

Due to the lack of rain and the heat, our fire rating in now EXTREME. Therefore, I would strongly suggest NO OPEN FIRES. Remember, call 340-3473 (FIRE) if you see an unattended and out of control forest fire.
On June 22, 2018, we had our first reported fire in McGregor Bay on TP 1510. THANKS to the quick actions by Tom Williams and family, Grant Marolf, Jim Ferguson and crew, Andy Robinson, Ken Hitchcock, Sep and a few others who put the fire out using two MBA fire pump systems and one private fire pump system. MNR&F was contacted and they arrived to survey the area. The MNR&F crew said “job well done” so again I say THANKS!!!!! MNR&F has the fire listed as "human cause".

Checking this year's membership directory, I see that the phone number for Fire Emergency is wrong. It is printed as 310-3474 when it should be 310-3473. Please change the number in your directory.

According to the MNR&F website, our area is under moderate risk of forest fires. I would strongly recommend NO open fires and you should NEVER have an unattended fire. Not sure when fire pumps will be placed in the pump stations. I will keep you advised.
The fire pumps are scheduled to be picked up and winterized by October 15, 2017 and scheduled to be replaced by May 15, 2018. I also requested that any pump station threatened by high water be moved to higher ground.
